"Together we can bring them home"

Adoptables Album

Due to the high volume of dogs we have available, we would please ask that you visit the Adoptables photo album under PHOTOS to view all the dogs we currently have for adoption. Thank you for your time and hopefully we have a dog for you!

To fill out an adoption application on any of these dogs please visit the 'Adoption Application' tab at the top of page.  Please ensure you have added to your safe emails list to prevent replies from going to your junk mail.

Each dog goes to their new home after being vet checked, vaccinated and microchipped. Any dog over the age of 5 months has also been spayed/neutered.  All dogs over the age of 6 months have also been heartworm tested.

All adopters will receive a medical history and be made aware of any behaviour problems and any known history from before the dog came to us.

Person must be 20 years old to adopt a dog.

You will hear from us within one week of us receiving your application if you are selected for a phone interview and to set up a time for a meet and greet. If you do not hear from us after one week of filling out the application then you were not chosen as this pets forever home. PAWS-UNITED RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ADOPTION TO ANYONE.

It is highly recommended that all family members meet the new pet before adopting to be sure there are no allergies and to make sure everyone gets along. If this is a second dog, please have your pet with you for the meet and greet.

There is a required adoption fee for each dog adopted out through Paws-United. All dogs have received initial vaccines (please note that dogs under 4 months of age have not received their rabies vaccination and no dog has received bordetella vaccine, or leptospirosis vaccine). All dogs have been microchipped. All dogs over 6 months of age have also been spayed/neutered and heartworm tested.

Adoption fees are as follows, but may be subject to change depending on the individual dog. Fees may also be changed without notice. These fees are based on a normal adoption, but are not guaranteed to be so for the dog you are adopting. This is the base at which each adoption fee starts at. As we are a not for profit organization, these fees go toward all vet care put into the dog.

Adult dogs over 5 months of age- $325

Puppies under 5 months of age- $325 with a $100 rebate when proof of spay/neuter has been done

Seniors (age 10 or older)- $150

Feature Dog- Peggy

1 year old Chocolate lab x

Oh hello, My names Peggy well I prefer Rosie and that's what foster momma calls me but you'll learn that story as you get to know me better. I am a special girl they tell me and I have a very special story. I've been living with my foster family for a while now and though they're the bestest ever I hear that there is a very special home out there just for me. I... have all my paws crossed for that special day to come soon but will keep being the happy go lucky girl I am in the meantime. I was so blessed to be brought into Paws United Dog Rescue and given a chance at being part of a family. You see I come from a remote community near James Bay in Northern Quebec where I was originally known as Rosie. With the help of some very special volunteers I made the long trip from living in cold climates without the basic care I so desperately needed to a place they told me is called Ontario where I have learned to be part of a home and family loving cozy spots on the couch, kisses from my humans and everything my little heart could ever desire. You wouldn't believe it, it's the most extraordinary thing, my foster momma keeps getting me these wonderful treasures that squeak! I haven't yet discovered the secrets they must hold before they self destruct but BOY DO I JUST LOVE these treasures. I am also so glad they put me to work on my important job of fetch, I just LOVE to chase the ball. I have a doggie brother in my foster home and we are just best friends. He's pretty special. I also get along well with new playmates but can sometimes be a little tooooo excited for some of my new friends and foster momma says I can be chatty sometimes saying hello with some barking when I am unsure or excited. Occasionally I get chatty with new people as well but I really do LOVE everyone so much and haven't met anyone I didn't just adore. When I get excited if you remind me to sit I have great manners when meeting and don't forget, I NEVER say no to a cookie. Once I get a good sniff of a new doggie friend I am ready to run together and make new friends. I love to wrestle as well but I am really too much of a lady to let any dogs climb all over my back and will tell them I don't like this with a quick noise and snap of the head. Once they get down from my back I couldn't care less and move on with my day, I never fuss to long. I just don't like to be climbed on. Back in my first home in the northern community, I spent some time on many adventures. On one of my adventures I ran into this thing they call a car. Unfortunately it was a little tougher than me and I found myself with a broken back leg and no medical care available. Over time my leg healed up and no longer bothers me but you see it doesn't bend properly now and when running and walking I move it in my own special way. I sometimes forget I am even special as I don't even notice it's different and it certainly doesn't slow me down. I can still win lot's of races around the yard with my four legged friends and other than sitting and running a little different from my fellow fur friends you'd never know that I had anything wrong. I love adventure and would hope to find a family that wants to have fun with me. After my daily adventures I would adore a spot on the couch next to my favourite people for cuddles and love. My new home should be alright with continuing my work on my leash manners as sometimes I get too excited and pull when first heading out on a walk or when going new places. I am house trained, crate trained and know lot's of basic commands. I presently live with a little person that I think is awesome, we have lots of fun together and I should be a great companion for children that don't mind a busy bouncy dog. If allowed I am always happy to help take on role of face cleaner and lap warming as well so don't hesitate to ask. I also live with these two funny fuzzy things that they call "the cats" .... It took me a bit of work to learn what to do with them and that I wasn't supposed to chase them but I must say, I have learned to have great kitty manners while in foster care and hey, cats aren't that bad after all. I am smart and sweet and have so much to offer a forever family who are looking for a dog well on their way with training, a dog to get busy with, a dog to shower you with affection and always remind you how thankful I am to be a rescue dog. If that sounds like what you're looking for I'd love to hear more about you!

Peggy has been spayed, vaccinated, vet checked, heartworm tested, treated with seasonal flea/tic prevention, de-wormed and micro chipped.
